5. Generic systems
Even though there will be a wide variation in the specifics,  a small set of generic processes can be used to characterize the vast majority of these goal-seeking processes. Each generic process uses a minimum number of building blocks. Taken in isolation, each also has its own characteristic behavior pattern.

This section presents seven generic processes Once you determine the nature of a particular goal-seeking process, you can select the generic process that most closely captures this nature.

Each generic process is named to reflect the nature of the activity flow it generates. The seven fundamental processes are:

External Resource Production,
Compounding,
Draining,
Stock Adjustment,
Implicit Goal-Seeking,
Co-Flow,
and Ordering.
