Maintain
contact with Lincshore project manager, liase with contractors to arrange survey periods outside
shorebird nesting season. Detailed study of beach nourishment now overseen by Halcrow. Receive annual
Lincshore reports.
Determine
positive/negative effects of beach nourishment on mudflats, embryo dunes, shingle ridges and
internationally important sp which depend on them.
Liaise
with EA concerning pollution incidents.
Assist
with consultation process for shoreline management plans and explore potential for coastal habitat
restoration on NW corner of the Wash.
Project

MS30/2-Manage
species, mammal - Control fox
Control
to be implemented on problem animals where causing shorebird losses. Undertaken by authorised
permit holder.
MS40/1-Manage
species, bird - Protect shorebirds
Shorebird
protection scheme is overseen by the HLF contract warden and volunteers from April to August.
Staff and volunteers are based at the shorebird wardens hut for a 24 hour presence to deter egg collectors.
The
sanctuary fence and signs are erected around the southern sanctuary during mid April.
Ringed
plover and little tern nests are located, records of clutch progress maintained and protection methods
employed as necessary. All detail in shorebird protection reports.
There
is presently no intensive wardening of shorebirds at Seacroft due to comparatively low numbers. This
may need to be reviewed if the situation changes.
Protection
and nest recording is carried out under English Nature licence which needs renewing annually. A
written report is produced annually.
Project
brief includes maintenance of all tools and equipment including the Tern Hut.
MS40/4-Manage
species, bird - Control corvids
Control
of problem crows/magpies to be implemented where impacting on shorebirds.
To be carried out by qualified operator
using legal means under LWT policy.
