6.3.2 Ammophila/shifting
Feature/Facility 5 - Shifting dunes with Ammophila arenaria

Description
SD6 Ammophila arenaria (marram grass) mobile dune community.  Occurs landward of the SD4 Elymus farctus community, which it succeeds once the dunes have built beyond the reach of regular tidal inundation.  This feature is largely governed by natural geomorphological processes and management intervention to curb loss of extent through scrub encroachment.

Favourable Status
The feature is characterised by extensive marram tufts, with few other grasses or herbs and often much open bare sand.
