Mike Alexander was the fourth warden of Skomer. With his wife
Roseanne, both freshly graduates from art school, he was
responsible for managing the island through the 1970s. His
major physical legacy is the North Haven landing point, with its
flight of steps firmly engineered into a fragile cell of wind-blown
sand. This required cultivating friendships with the helicopter
station at Brawdy, which willingly flew in the necessary sand
and cement. With Mike's cajoling the R.A.F also provided
weekend work parties that secured the ruined shell of the
farmhouse by capping its exposed walls, and roofing the old
dairy.
