Rating biodiversity
Whilst all living things have instrinsic value, the allocation of scarce resources to nature conservation is based on comparative evaluations of site quality. Since the nature conservation review of 1977, eleven criteria have been applied to rank nature sites. These criteria were devised to decide on which sites should constitue a national series for each kind of habitat and led to the establishment of the first national nature reserves.
