Nature Quest!
Once,
we could find nature everywhere. Now we now have to be taught where and how to
look.
The aim is to offer schools/communities various routes to discover and value their neighbourhood's wildlife. The objective is to become involved, through work managing year on year appraisals of common plants and animals in gardens, parks, open spaces and local water features. The programme provides backup resources for participating in the UK biodiversity action plan by:-
-
checking out and managing species, habitats and managed ecosystems that are characteristic of local areas;
-
increasing the biodiversity of natural and semi-natural habitats where this has been diminished over recent past decades;
-
increasing public awareness of, and involvement in, conserving biodiversity;
-
establishing an all-community citizen's environmental network for spreading good conservation practice;
-
exploring 'notions about nature' and develop a broader heritage value system about 'place';
-
providing audiovisual modules on conservation management.
