"I shall take you on a journey. It is a journey of comprehension, taking us to
the edge of space, time and understanding. On it I shall argue that there is
nothing that cannot be understood, that there is nothing that cannot be
explained, and that everything is extraordinarily simple… A great deal of
the universe does not need any explanation. Elephants, for instance. Once
molecules have learnt to compete and to create other molecules in their
own image, elephants and things resembling elephants will in due course be
found roaming through the countryside".

Dead chick
'Dead Chick' was produced in response to the artist who was a smallholder finding a
chick that had died trying to extricate itself from its shell. It was a spur of the
moment decision when her mind was occupied with thoughts of childbirth.
To approach art as an aid to human survival is to take a biological view where graphicity is an evolved
behaviour of humans in the processes of primate natural selection. It is inevitable that it will be bound up with
sexual display and social grouping.
